Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest;
heals the heart and makes it whole; flows from heaven to the soul.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t seem to focus and do anything at all if I’m not listening to some kind of music. My wish is to have speakers all over the house so I can listen anywhere at anytime, even when I’m in the shower. Ha. (OK, sorry TMI).
My point is, music has always been a big part of my existence. I cannot sing nor play a tune, but I’ve always loved music and dancing since I was little. There’s something about the different types of harmony, fast or slow, and the words that can be very soothing. So, as you can only imagine, when I went through my dark days and years of depression and anxiety, music became a big part of my therapy. In fact, during those years, I needed music playing in the background all night long when I went to bed. I had trouble sleeping so it was comforting to wake up in the middle of the night and hear some music so I would not feel so alone.
These days, it’s a little different. I do enjoy the silence at night but I do need my songs playing in the background when I’m working, cooking, cleaning or doing whatever all day long. Silence is good too, but 90% of the time, I listen to all sorts of songs, from acoustic to dance, hip hop, latin, inspirational, christian, broadway, etc. It all depends on my mood that day. Sometimes I even like a song simply because of its words/message and I don’t care so much about what tune it is. Songs make me happy and sometimes they bring me to tears, in a good way, because I feel they help me find the words I cannot express on my own. So, I love my music, I love my songs, and I do love my playlists playing over and over throughout the day.
That said, I figured it would be great to share with you some of my playlists each month. Maybe some of these songs will inspire or uplift you, or touch you in a way you don’t expect. Either way, I hope you check out our song list below, because they truly are songs of sunshine! Enjoy!
